Join Mohammed on a two-hour English walking tour from Mutrah Fish Market along the Corniche, through Mutrah Souq, and up to Mutrah Fort. Meet your English-speaking GidOman guide at the main visitor entrance for a one-hour walk through Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. See the 4,000-square-meter carpet, 14-meter crystal chandelier, prayer halls, courtyards, and gardens while learning about Islamic art and Sultan Qaboos’s legacy. Bring modest clothing and a headscarf.

You’ll ride from Nizwa by 4x4 to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest mountain, then hike the Balcony Walk past abandoned villages and hidden waterfalls. After reaching a hidden pool, you’ll climb roughly 100 metres on a three-part via ferrata with safety equipment and an English or Arabic-speaking guide. Abdullah and Ahmed have led recent departures.
“It’s a nice hike around the balcony before some climbing up about 100 metres via the ferrata, which is thankfully in three parts so you can rest in between parts. The majority of the hike is mostly flat, except for the the entrance up to the ferrata, but it’s definitely doable as long as the sun is cooperative, so consider early morning or later in the afternoon.”
Leave Muscat at 6:30 am for Jebel Shams and the Balcony Walk above Wadi Ghul. You’ll hike to Sab Bani Khamis, continue toward a hidden lake, eat lunch with canyon views, and visit Ghul’s ruins before returning by evening. Guides such as Ahmed, Bilgun, and Sohaib have led this route.
